What's Nerdier?

This conversation came up on another forum and I thought it was hilarious.

Two guys were going at each other arguing what was nerdier.

So, fellow 16 bitters (wtf?)...

What's nerdier. Dungeons and Dragons or World of Warcraft?

World of Warcraft.

Dungeons and Dragons is the beginning of the Nerd culture, WoW is the Peak of it.

I've never seen a radio station for DnD.

World of Warcraft. Its completely online, you never leave your house except to buy more WoW time (if you use prepaid cards.) Theres no face to face interaction with other people. Whereas with DnD you're getting your friends together and having a good time inventing some crazy shit and often (at least with my groups) getting drunk in the process. Its an excuse to socialise and catch up with mates.

I agree with Ari and Scott, but I'd say Dungeons and Dragons.

At the least, there's a least a FEW of the Ari/Jason semi hood types mixed in the World of Warcraft world. If I had a better PC and it was free, I'd become a WoW stan.

I knew Dungeons and Dragons fanatics, and they were some of the nerdiest mofos I've ever known.

Hell, my best friend(Not John), is, and he makes me and John look like Jay-Z.

But personally, I think D&D is nerdier. You're pretending to be someone else and you're playing a roleplaying game... IRL.

WoW people are no different to me than people that play Fallout 3 and Halo all day.

Just hardcore gamers.

D&D is people like TRULY pretending and immersing themselves in that shiz.

Hmm, on second thought, due to the "Mainstream" nature of WoW (William Shatner, and Mr. T commercials applied here), DnD is more of a closet culture *( a huge one, but closet nonetheless) and would seem harder to get into, thus making it the nerdier of the two. No-one is shoving DnD down your throats like they do WoW. I can build a small fort out of the WoW Trial DVD's I've gotten over the years, whereas I simply know about DnD because I'm an old school kind of geek.

Ask these kids what multi-sided dice and Attack dice are. They'll look at you like you're fucking insane, call you an old fogey, and take their Laptops to another free wifi location to play their level 60 Ranger.

WoW is a video game...which is a leading industry nowadays. And not b/c of "nerds."

And WoW has so many users..
